ORGANIZATION: nycTIES

  • 19 people are interested

Every year nycTIES partners with another non-profit charity partner that is doing amazing work. We assist this organization by volunteering with them, promoting their mission and raising funds to help them do important work. This year we are partnering with Pajama Program! Pajama program provides pajamas and books, ordinary objects that transform bedtime into a ritual of love, warmth, imagination and fun. Pajama Program serves children living in shelters, waiting to be received into a foster care home, or have parents that are incarcerated.

Are you a young professional looking to volunteer your time? Are you a young professional who enjoys working with children? Volunteer your time to read to children who are in need, it will be the best part of your weekend.

Please note that you must fill out 2 very brief forms. One is a volunteer form for our charity partner Pajama Program, and the other is a (very short!) background check (to be cleared to volunteer with young children). You will not be allowed to participate without completing these items. The background check will be $7, however you can be reimbursed by nycTIES if you choose. *We are not profit, so we encourage you to cover the cost of the background check.

If you are interested in this project, you will receive an email with links for the required forms.

About nycTIES

Location:

164 E 85TH ST APT 3E, NEW YORK, NY 10028, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to establish ties between young professionals and the NYC community through networking and volunteering.

Description

Co-founder Alex Price had the seed of philanthropy take root at a young age. His dad, Billy, would take him to soup kitchens to help feed the homeless and, despite the family's modest means, provided a full Christmas meal for a needy family every holiday season.

Tragically, Billy Price died of a heart attack in 2005. The following year, Alex, with the help of nycTIES co-founders Mathew Farkash, Bharani Rajakumar, and Danielle Bridie, held a charity benefit for the American Heart Association to commemorate his father's passing, raising $10,000. Through its success, Alex realized the potential philanthropic power a collection of young, eager, New York City professionals could wield - nycTIES was born.

Today, nycTIES has grown to have a dual purpose. We offer volunteer opportunities for individuals looking to give back to the community and social events for those looking to expand their network of peers.

Each calendar year, nycTIES selects one charity organization to partner with. We aim to select a charity partner that our members can truly work with hand in hand, to help impact our community in a meaningful and positive way.
