About

Overview: Teach a weekly citizenship class for adults. The goal of the class is to help participants prepare to become US citizens.

Responsiblities:

  • Facilitate and teach the class
  • Increase learners' knowledge of US government, history, civics and English skills
  • Practice basic speaking, listening, reading and writing English
  • Review requirements for citizenship
  • Review application requirements
  • Practice for citizenship interview with students who are applying to become US citizens

Training/Support:

  • Orientation, training and ongoing support from the Volunteer Coordinator and Citizenship Team

Qualifications:

  • Willingness to work with diverse students of varied backgrounds and learner levels
  • Excellent person-to-person skills
  • Commitment to diversity and life long learning
  • Age 18 or older

Commitment:

  • 12 month commitment
  • 1.5 hour weekly class plus preparation time
