ORGANIZATION: Pima Community College Adult Basic Education for College and Career

Overview: Teach a weekly citizenship class. The goal of the class is to help participants prepare to become US citizens.

Responsibilities:

  • Increase learners' knowledge of US government, history, civics and English skills
  • Practice basic English speaking, listening, reading and writing
  • Help learners get prepared for citizenship interview - review requirements and application, practice for interview

Qualifications:

  • High degree of initiative and creativity
  • Willingness to work with diverse students of varied backgrounds and learner levels
  • Excellent person-to-person skills
  • Responsible

Commitment:

  • 12 month commitment

Pima College Adult Basic Education for College and Career (ABECC) Mission: We meet every adult learner where they are, honor their strengths and support them to their goals.

We offer free, non-credit high school equivalency classes, English language classes, career contextualized instruction, and citizenship preparation classes.

Volunteers are essential to fulfilling our mission and we welcome inquiries from community members who want to help the thousands of adult students we serve each year.
