We need a Secretary of the Board for our nonprofit, For Goodness Cakes.
Our mission is to match volunteers to bake birthday cakes for at-risk and underprivileged youth.
The Secretary plays a critical role in fostering communication and diligence through proper management and utilization of important records such as meeting minutes and the organization's bylaws.
-Custodian of the organization’s records, maintaining accurate documentation through meeting minutes and meeting any legal requirements such as annual filing deadlines.
-Reviewing and updating documents as necessary, such as our bylaws, ensuring they are safely stored and accessible
-Knowledgable of our records and related materials, providing advice and resources to the Board on topics such as governance issues, amendments to state laws, and the like, that will assist in fulfilling our fiduciary duties
-Act as signing officer for certain documents as delegated by the President of the Board
-Occasional meetings with the President of the Board on nonprofit development strategy
-Must reside in the Los Angeles County area
-Attend all quarterly board meetings (dates are not set in stone but works around the schedules of other officers)
-Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
*We ask that you give an 18 month minimum commitment
*Experience as a paralegal or lawyer is preferred, but not necessary.
