The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) needs volunteers to help provide no-cost IRS certified tax preparation assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers. Since 2002, SSA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) preparers have helped taxpayers to receive larger tax refunds by claiming the credits they have earned. Recruitment for Tax Preparers, Screeners and Greeters has begun. We can all make a difference in small measured ways. VITA is your opportunity.
The VITA program operates Jan. 18 - April 17, 2016 on Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 - 8:30 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am - 4:00 pm.
There are 4 different sites that volunteers can choose from: Thomas L Berkley (2000 San Pablo Ave, Oakland), Enterprise Office (8477 Enterprise Way, Oakland), Office of Supervisor Wilma Chan (15903 Hesperian Blvd, San Lorenzo), and Eden Multi-Service Center (24100 Amador St, Hayward).
We’re looking for volunteers who customer-oriented and enjoy working with diverse populations. Bilingual skills are highly desirable. No prior tax preparation experience is needed - we will give you the training to become IRS-certified.
Training for new volunteers begins in January 2017. Register online here:
