Producer for Social Justice Theatre Project: Theatre for Empowerment and Advocacy

Volunteer Theatre Producer needed for social justice theatre project, entitled Theatre for Empowerment and Advocacy that will dramatize DACA success stories and other refugee and immigrant success stories. Volunteer will:

  1. coordinate script-writers,
  2. conduct fund-raising for project,
  3. collect immigrant success stories
  4. recruit and engage script-witers,
  5. organize PR for project,
  6. conduct outreach to Theatre and Drama departments in Universities,
  7. arrange production venues,
  8. staff and supervise project, from start to finish and
  9. generally oversee all aspects of an exciting social justice theatre project.

Most essential quality needed is a passion and commitment to advocacy for immigration justice. Volunteer should have knowledge of theatre, a background in arts and humanities, be highly organized and a good team player.

The specific purpose of this corporation is for service, research and training:

  1. To provide counseling, psycho- educational services and cultural awareness programs for newcomer families and their children that is respectful of ethnic values and diverse views, including State Laws pertaining to Child Protection, Domestic Violence, Educational, Immigration and other areas.
  2. To provide a setting for professionals who work with stressed families in newcomer and other circumstances to gain knowledge and skills to help them be effective in their work.
  3. To develop a knowledge base for dissemination of practices, methods and concepts for use in the broad mental health and Social Services field.
