The Mercer Island Farmers Market (MIFM), a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, seeks qualified individuals to join its volunteer Board.
The MIFM connects Washington State producers with community residents during the June - October Market season, serving an average of 2500 visitors each Sunday. In addition to offering a wide variety of local food products, the Market provides a safe, convenient gathering place for all ages, featuring weekly Children’s Table educational programs, music performances, and freshly prepared dishes.
MIFM Board members are typically residents of Mercer Island or adjacent communities who have a passion for healthy food, community service, and the ability to regularly contribute support to MIFM strategy and operations throughout the calendar year.
Of particular interest to MIFM are candidates who can offer one or more of the following skill areas:
- Executive Leadership
- Marketing, PR and Social Media
- Food Production and Vendor Relations
- Finance and Accounting
- Planning and Budgeting
The MIFM Board of Directors typically meets the third Tuesday of each month from 6-8 pm in downtown Mercer Island. Each Director is expected to serve on at least one Committee including: Finance, Vendor Relations, Development, and Marketing/Communications. MIFM Board Committees meet occasionally throughout the year and use email for interim communications. A Director should be available to contribute at least four or more hours per month including Board and Committee meetings, and to participate occasionally as a day of market volunteer during the Market season.
Prior non-profit Board experience is helpful, but not required. A passion for healthy food is welcome!
