Chapter Officers - West Los Angeles

We are looking for two people to co-lead our West Los Angeles Chapter of For Goodness Cakes! **This is a volunteer run position only and is not paid, however an exceptional reference will be given**

The duties and responsibilities are for two people total - while having one person is enough, we’d like two people to work together in case a schedule conflict comes up and one can cover the other.

For Goodness Cakes is a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit whose mission is to match volunteers to bake birthday cakes for at-risk and underprivileged youth in their community. We are looking for passionate individuals who care about the youth in their community and love to bake! We believe that by providing birthday cakes to disadvantaged youth and young adults, we can help inspire their confidence and optimism.

Our model is simple: Volunteers who want to help out in their community but don’t have a lot of time or experience can still provide a special celebration for a kid in need. We act as the organizer between the volunteers and the agencies. The cake is dropped off at the agency office in the morning, and picked up by the guardian or social worker to surprise the child that afternoon.

Since our inception in January 2016, we have delivered smiles and celebrations to over 130 youth in Los Angeles County!

Responsibilities:

-Manage and motivate your chapter volunteer base. Provide direction, mentorship, and feedback as needed.
-Engage with new agencies to partner with to add more baking opportunities for volunteers
-Organize and facilitate monthly orientations for new volunteers and small quarterly events for volunteer engagement
-Maintain facebook page regularly and serve as the chapter’s spokesperson
-Pursue and participate in fundraising opportunities as appropriate

Qualifications:

-Must reside in the Westside Los Angeles area with reliable transportation
-Proficient with Gmail, Facebook, and basic data entry into an easy-to-use online volunteer management system
-Experience organizing small events
-Preferred experience in nonprofit leadership roles
-Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for For Goodness Cakes’ mission
-Flexible schedule that will permit any last minute baking needs or deliveries

Requirements -

Food Safety Management Certification - This training requires a multiple choice exam to pass. Training can be done in person (1 day) or studied online with a proctored exam. We are asking for a two year commitment, approximately 5-10 hours a month
