Patrons who come in for food or clothing tend to be facing other issues that Skyline cannot directly hep with. Ideally we would like to have a volunteer who is available weekly to sit down with a patron in a private setting and help them find other resources.
Whether a person is looking for a job, a program that assists with medication, utility assistance or something else that might be provided by another agency, the help desk's function would be to connect them to a place that focuses on that particular area.
Internet research would be a big part of this position. An ongoing task would be creating a resource list which other staff members might be able to reference when letting patrons know what options are out there, as well as the requirements for various programs they might be interested in.
The volunteer would be provided with a computer, a phone, and a cubicle for private conversations with patrons. There would also be a small orientation to discuss the way Skyline's programs work and it's relationship with other agencies.
Someone patient, determined, compassionate and organized would be perfect for this job! Bilingual is a plus, as well as someone with experience/knowledge in various social services in OKC.

Mission Statement
Skyline’s mission is to impact lives, empower those in need and to address the roots of poverty in Oklahoma.
Description
Skyline has served the OKC community for over 40 years. Our agency is a mission of the United Methodist Church which offers different services for at-risk & under-served adults, youth and children. In addition to the Food Resource Center, Skyline is home to several other programs meant to assist those struggling with poverty. The ultimate goal is to restore dignity to the lives of patrons, end stereotypes, and foster a new era of compassion and respect for those living on the margins.
