Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Project Create! Put your professional skills and life experience to work for a greater good! Your expertise can be applied in creative ways to benefit Project Create, and you will gain the rewarding experience of working directly with our youth. We are always grateful for: Volunteer Community Outreach Assistants Are you friendly and like talking to people? Help us spread the word through interactive crafts at weekend community events. Marketing and Communications Assistants Assist the administrative staff with marketing efforts including newsletters and social media. Volunteer Classroom Assistants Assist our teachers during weekly classes at several locations throughout Washington, DC. Volunteers enjoy a rewarding and hands-on experience working with children and youth. Weekly classes begin in October and take place weekdays between 3:30pm - 7:30pm and Saturdays between 10:30am - 4:30pm. Graphic Design & Photography Assistants Help us inspire through impactful and engaging visual imagery. Digital Artwork Coordinator Manage and curate our impressive portfolio of student artwork in preparation for the Annual Student Showcase in spring.

Project Create provides accessible arts education to promote positive development in children, youth and families experiencing homelessness and poverty. Project Create is committed to enriching and transforming the lives of at-risk children in Washington, DC by providing them with professionally-led arts experiences. We believes that arts experiences are essential to a child's development. They empower children to reach their potential by fostering critical thinking skills, creative expression, self-esteem, and social skills.
Description
PROJECT CREATE is a community-based nonprofit that promotes creative youth development through multi-disciplinary arts education and enrichment. Project Create teaching artists have been working with children, youth, and families in Washington, D.C. for over twenty years. Our students participate in out-of-school-time art classes, workshops, open studio, field trips, and exhibition and performance opportunities. Project Create offers free creative classes and workshops at our studio in the Anacostia neighborhood of Southeast DC in Ward 8, as well as at 14 partner locations in underserved neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. Courses include visual, performing, and digital media arts classes like drawing and painting, illustration, photography, collage, spoken word, fashion, music production and theater.
