Tiyya

The Tiyya Foundation is a non-profit in Orange County that provides basic necessities and support to refugee individuals and families.

We're currently looking for a social media intern to help us develop content and take photos of our families, volunteers and events for our Facebook and Instagram pages.

If you're creative, passionate about helping important causes, have an eye for detail and a background in marketing, journalism, communications or media, please contact us at pr@tiyya.org.

The intern position is ongoing and takes place either at the Tiyya office in Santa Ana or at Tiyya's events in Orange County. A camera will be provided as well.

We strive to provide community support and educational opportunities for families of refugees, immigrants, and displaced Americans. In doing so, we hope to create a community that fosters the development of self-sufficiency, ultimately helping our program participants overcome obstacles and actively participate in society.

Description

After being uprooted, starting over can be very challenging and emotionally consuming for refugees and displaced families. Newly arrived parents struggle to navigate a foreign system in which basic daily tasks, such as public transportation, doctor's visits, grocery shopping, etc., become challenges. Furthermore, they cannot provide their children the support they need to succeed in school and feel part of our community .


Tiyya is a grassroots organization that provides programmatic support for the whole family. Led by volunteers, our vision is to create a society that is compassionate and understanding of refugee experiences through developing relationships and fostering the public’s engagement.
