Hey- Helping to Empower Youth

O.T.W. (Outside The Walls) Program trains Mentors, pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Some Mentors are trained & certified to go into juvenile Hall and Mentor Youth inside YDF, our Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.

Our goal is to provide youth with positive interaction with an adult who can serve as role model and to give them healthy alternatives to destructive behaviors.

Youth can become involved in the program in various ways:

* Youth interest

* Parent request

* School referral

* Court mandate

Mentors spend at least two hours a week to help youth set and achieve goals, be a positive role model and friend, be an education and career advocate, become a permanent connection, change a life and help build a future.
