Ten Thousand Villages in Oak Park is looking for people who would like to become volunteer greeters over the holiday. You will be trained to know how to greet and respond to basic questions posed by customers.
We are looking for people to help us at various times but particularly in the evenings and on the weekends. Times vary. Each shift would be 2.5 to 3 hours, standing near the front greeting our wonderfully supportive customers.
This will also help you for the holidays: If you work a minimum of 8 hours between November 20 and December 31, you will earn a generous 20% discount on regularly priced merchandise!

Ten Thousand Villages Oak Park is a non-profit, fair-trade retailer that supports marginalized artisans in developing countries by selling their products in the developed world. Unlike a conventional retailer, we guarantee the artisans with whom we work fair-wages and compensation for their labor. Many of our artisans are educating the first generation of their families and joining the middle class in their home countries thanks to our work! Currently we work with artisan groups in 36 different countries around the world. Our work would not be possible without the help of a large staff of volunteers, who handle every aspect of our business, from bookkeeping to customer service to marketing and promotion. However, our greatest needs are for sales associates and merchandise handlers.
As a home decor and personal accessoroes store we are constantly receiving new inventory. Personable, reliable people who enjoy meeting customers and getting the first look at new products can always find a home here!
In appreciation of our volunteers donation of time we offer a 20% discount on in-store purchses, as well as initial and ongoing skills-based training. We hold quarterly appreciation events to enable our capable, generous volunteers to meet and socialize with one another.
