Get in the holiday spirit and volunteer with SAY San Diego’s Adopt A Family Program!

Each year we match donors with families who need assistance for the holidays. During December, donors bring their gifts to our offices (in the Kearny Mesa area) where volunteers help us sort and organize them so that the families and case workers can pick them up in time for the holiday. Most positions will require some lifting.

Sign up as an individual, volunteer group, or with a friend! Continue reading for dates, times and number of volunteers needed per day!

Drop off shifts:

Check in table - we will have 1 - 3 volunteers staff the registration table for each shift. You will greet the donor and find their paperwork. If you are a people person and enjoy a fast paced position, this is for you! You will not have to lift anything and can sit during this shift.

Unload cars - help unload donor gifts and bring to the sorting area. Requires some lifting and pushing shopping carts. You will be outside for most of the time.

Sorting and organizing - help sort and bag and tag gifts so that they are ready to be picked up by families and case workers. Requires some lifting. You will be inside most of the time.

Pick Up shifts:

Check out table - we will have 1 - 3 volunteers staff the registration table where families and case workers will sign out their gifts. This is fast paced and detail oriented. One volunteer will be 'quality control’. QC volunteer will make sure that

Loading cars - help find the correct gifts and load families and case worker cars with gifts to be delivered. Requires some lifting. You will be inside and outside for this position.

All trainings and shifts will take place at in the Kearny/Serra Mesa area, SD 92123.
