Peace Boat

Peace Boat US is currently accepting internship applications for both the spring and summer 2017. Candidates must commit to working in the Peace Boat US office at 777 United Nations Plaza for 15 hours per week for at least three consecutive months; with an opportunity to attend United Nations conferences as a part of their experience. Internships with Peace Boat US are unpaid, but serve as credit toward the cost of joining all or part of a Peace Boat Global Voyage.

Peace Boat US is organizing a special study program focused on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during the summer from June 20 - July 3, 2017 onboard the 94th Global Voyage of Peace Boat, visiting Panama, traveling through the Panama Canal and experience the local cultures in Nicaragua and El Salvador. We encourage all youth ages 16-35 to travel with us this summer. Traveling with Peace Boat provides a space where people can interact, study, create events, and have access to facilities such as conference and seminar rooms. Cabin accommodation, daily meals, medical service, recreational facilities, and highly trained professional team of officers and crew members ensure that passengers can travel with safety and comfort as they engage in learning. There is no other form of travel in the world that allows people to be a part of a borderless "international floating village" like a Peace Boat voyage. Program costs are calculated according to length, content, staffing, and travel requirements. Flights are separate from program quote. Please consult with Peace Boat US to obtain program quote. Visit www.peaceboat.orgfor more information about Peace Boat.

Please complete our Intern Application and email it to info@peaceboat-us.org or contact us for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!

About Peace Boat US

Location:

777 UNITED NATIONS PLAZA 3E, NEW YORK, NY 10017, US

Mission Statement

Peace Boat US works to build a culture of peace around the world by connecting people across borders and creating opportunities for learning, activism and cooperation. We achieve this through programs in which people from the US and around the world participate in voyages onboard the Peace Boat, our Japan-based partner organization and one of the most unique and creative peace-building initiatives in the world. Programs combine learning, activism, advocacy and travel, allowing participants to experience the reality of global issues such as the impact of war, environmental degradation, gender violence, poverty and other issues. Participants learn through immersion in grassroots peace-building that is the Peace Boat experience.

Description

Peace Boat US programs give you access to global experts, travel opportunities, learning spaces and the experience of a lifetime as we travel around the world visiting more than 20 countries in three months. We work with academic institutions to create custom programs for groups of students, ranging from one week to a full voyage of approximately 100 days, which combines onboard learning with hands on experience and action in the countries we visit. Working in partnership with our partner NGOs we support and promote fair trade, sustainable development, environmental conservation and peace building initiatives in the regions that we visit. We also extend a warm welcome to travelers of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in any combination of life-long learning, travel, adventure, activism and immersion in Peace Boat’s unique community onboard. We look forward to having you sail with us! Please contact the Peace Boat US Office for more information about costs and procedures.
