Do you have great transcription skills--enjoy typing and have reasonable accuracy? Can you listen to a tape recording and type what you hear? Hospice of the Western Reserve is in great need of a few volunteers to assist other volunteers who work on Legacy Projects with our patients.

A legacy project is somethign that a volunteer helps patients to create and is usually in book form. The Legacy Volunteer will do the interviewing of the patient regarding their memories and stories of their lives but a Transcription Volunteer is needed to help transfer those spoken words from audio tape to a Word document.

Only the first four hours of our normally-16-hour-volunteer-education are needed for this level of volunteering as it is considered "clerical" and "non-patient-related". Volunteer education is offered at a variety of days, times and locations are available throughout out service area, which spans east to west from Ashtabula County to Lorain county..and past Summit county to the south.

This type of work can be done from any of our office locations or from your home, once you have obtained the materials you will need.

Fill out a volunteer application online at hospicewr.org/volunteer or call us at 216-255-9090 to obtain an application by mail.
