Our ESOL (English as a Second Language) Tutor will volunteer under the direction of our inspiring and creative Adult Literacy staff to support Spanish speaking immigrant communities with their English language development in our Jackson Heights community center. Our teachers are experienced in working in a student-centered environment where student collaboration and participation is highly encouraged. The ESOL Tutor will assist our teacher with 1-1 help with an Arabic speaking student to assist with the student’s ESOL skill development in class.
***Volunteer NEEDS to be bilingual - English/Arabic.***
Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. It is most important to us that participants have a strong desire to support and work with the immigrant community. Willingness to learn, great teamwork, communication skills, and an enthusiastic commitment to supporting immigrants will be required from all volunteers.
