Position Summary:

American Cancer Society Gift Closet volunteers help support cancer patients by offering free wigs, hats, scarves and other gift items provided by the American Cancer Society.

The Gift Closet is open every Friday from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Kaiser Permanente Interstate, Central Building. Volunteers can select how many shifts they'd like to work each month (a shift is 2 hours long).

Responsibilities:

  • If an opening shift, open the gift closet and set-up fitting stations.

  • Assist cancer patients with trying on wigs, hats and scarves.

  • Register patients for Look Good Feel Better workshop.

  • Complete paperwork documenting each patient who is provided with a gift item.

  • If a closing shift, clean up fitting stations and put away gift items.

Support Provided:

  • Training offered by the American Cancer Society on how to interact with patients, fit wigs and fill out paperwork.

  • Local American Cancer Society and Kaiser Permanente staff available for day to day support.
