PeaceGeeks is a global non-profit, volunteer organization that uses technology to build the technological, communications and management capacities of grassroots organizations who work to promote peace, accountability and human rights. We develop partnerships with these organizations to provide meaningful support designed to increase their skills, effectiveness and impact. Position Overview:
The Marketing Chair will mastermind PeaceGeeks’ marketing strategy and operations. This includes designing and implementing a marketing strategy, branding, as well as internal and external communication strategies. The successful candidate will ensure PeaceGeeks’ brand mission, vision, values, and promises are consistently, clearly, and coherently expressed/delivered. This position shall work closely with the Marketing Team Lead to oversee and coordinator various specialist marketing teams comprising: Brand & Brand Communications, Campaigns, Events, Website, Community, and Internal Communications and Project Collateral. The Marketing Chair will report to the Board of Directors.


  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with traditional and non-traditional media outlets/partners
  • Accountable to build vendor relationships for marketing collateral
  • Accurate and timely implementation of marketing strategy and tactics
  • Oversee the execution of cause-related events
  • Host regular status meetings with the marketing team lead
  • Ensure the Marketing Team Lead works closely with the specialist marketing teams to achieve their goals: Guiding the development of quantitative and qualitative measures of success for tactical implementations, Delivering forward-looking editorial direction, design, production, and distribution of all organizational publications according to branding standards, Providing brand consistency and superior user experience through all digital marketing and communication channels, and to Maximize cost efficiency


  • Education in marketing, business, communications or an equivalent professional qualification
  • At least 3 years of industry experience
  • Preferred professional designations from institutions such as Canadian Marketing Association and/or Certified Marketing Professionals of Canada
  • Experience developing and implementing marketing strategies, concepts, and practices
  • Experience managing special events and volunteer resources
  • Experience managing co-located and virtual teams
  • Awareness of international issues, technology, and volunteer management
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities
  • Strong project management and performance measurement skills
  • Ability to deliver planned and ad hoc requests within short notice
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Utilizing open source digital marketing tools
  • Utilizing MS Office, MS Excel, MS Word, Adobe Photoshop, In-Design, Slack
  • Independent self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Highly collaborative working style and relationship building abilities
  • Ability to lead others and positively influence individuals and outcomes

  • Making an impactful contribution to peace building work in developing, non-democratic and conflict-affected places
  • Collaborate and network with an executive-level group of dedicated volunteers and board members

Position Start Date
Upon selection of a qualified candidate

Time Commitment
Approximately 5 to 10 hours per week

Work Location

  • Volunteer may work from home or online
  • Highly encouraged to attend/participate in all events hosted by the organization and its partners
