Hours: Full Time
Requirements: Willingness and ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds, many of whom are new English learners; must exhibit cultural sensitivity and appreciation, as well as a zeal for service.
Desired Skills: Knowledge of Asian Pacific American cultures beneficial; ability to speak, write, and read English and Chinese (Cantonese) preferred; bachelor’s degree in social service, education or related field preferred. Experience with Limited English speaking youth and their families who are culturally diverse, and academically and economically disadvantaged desired.
MinimumAge Requirement: 18 years old
Duration Requirement: 6 months
Program benefits: Childcare (if eligible), health coverage, stipend, training, some transportation assistance
The AmeriCorps member will aid the Children, Youth, and Families Program by providing culturally competent workshops, case management and youth engagement services to the participants of Youth Job Readiness Training program. Collaborate with schools and other youth service provider agencies in the development of program education and training. Services are holistic, person-centered, and strengths-based with the goal of career and post-secondary education options to achieve self-sufficiency in the community.

Asian Counseling and Referral Service (ACRS) is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization offering a broad array of human services and behavioral health programs to Asian Pacific Americans in King County. ACRS is the largest multiservice organization serving all the different Asian Pacific American communities - immigrants, refugees and American born - in the Pacific Northwest.
