ORGANIZATION: Refugee Center & Community School at Reynolds Middle School

  • 5 people are interested

We've seen great increase in the number of English Language Learner (ELL, the new term for ESL) students this year, and we want to ensure their success in every class. We are seeking several volunteers, available during the school day, to "adopt a class period." Ideally, volunteers will support their adopted class period several times (3-5) per week to build rapport with the students. Class subjects vary, though we have immediate openings for math and science for 1st (8-9 a.m.), 6th (12-1 p.m.), and 7th (1-2 p.m.) period classes. No prior instructional experience necessary. All interested individuals must complete a brief volunteer application and orientation session prior to volunteering. We look forward to hearing from you! Volunteer Application may be found here: http://bit.ly/2hnFVVC

The Refugee Center & Community School at Reynolds Middle School is a full-service community school in the School District of Lancaster, run in partnership with Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13. We serve the whole child--mentally, emotionally, and socially. In service of this mission, RMS offers an Extended Day Program (EDP) at RMS throughout the school year, giving students a safe place to hang out after school, extra help with homework, and enrichment opportunities. RCCSR also offers parent workshops, refugee student support services, cultural navigation, and a uniform bank, all for students and their families.
