Volunteers needed to assist with By Your Side, a program that provided vigil support for dying patients--if you are interested, you coudl be called to provide this type of support for 2-4 hr shifts between 8am and 8pm during the last 72 of the patients' life.
We believe that no one should die alone and our volunteers provide presence by sitting with the dying. This may include softly talking to the patient, perhaps reading to them or holding their hand. You may be asked to provide support for any family members who might be present at this time.
This position is open in both the Medina and Summit County locations. Volunteers needed to assist patients in our in-patient facilities as well as in hospitals, nursing homes and in patients' private residences. The Summit County office address is 150 Springside Dr, Ste 235 B, Akron, OH 44333 though no in patient facility is present in Summit County.
Volunteers have the right to express preference as to where they would like to be assigned and have the right to refuse assignments without judgement.

Description
Hospice of the Western Reserve provides care for patients where ever they call home, whether that be at home, in a nursing home, assisted living, one of our inpatient units, or in a hospital. Care is provided regardless of ability to pay. We use a team approach where volunteers are of equal importance to all other members of the team.
Hospice of the Western Reserve serves Northern Ohio with offices in Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, and Summit counties.CAUSE AREAS
