'Tis the season! It's almost time for the Accokeek Foundation's annual "Winter's Eve" celebration on the National Colonial Farm!
We need volunteers for this year's event on Saturday, December 10. We're looking for master crafters, hot chocolate brewers, Christmas carolers, popcorn poppers, ticket takers, lantern lighters, and more!
Interested in learning more? E-mail Casey Lowe at volunteers@accokeek.org.

Mission Statement
According to the Foundation's 1957 charter, "It shall be the purpose of this Corporation to preserve, protect and foster, for scientific, educational or charitable use and study for the benefit of the people of the nation, the historical sites and relics, trees, plants, and wildlife rapidly disappearing from an area of great natural beauty along the Maryland shore of the historic Potomac River."
Description
In partnership with the National Park Service, the Accokeek Foundation stewards 200 acres of Piscataway Park. Situated directly across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon, this land was protected to preserve historic views and now serves as an outdoor classroom for educational programs about land conservation, historic preservation, sustainable agriculture, and environmental stewardship. Entertaining tours and performances, customized experience based activities, and service learning opportunities help visitors connect to the land and to one another.
