Description
● We need more check-in volunteers to work with the homeless that we seek to
house. This work is done primarily on the phone and email, all from the privacy of
your own home.
Required Skills
The ideal candidate for this volunteer position would:
● have a few hours a week in the window of 10am-2pm to dedicate to calling
clients and asking them several questions to determine if they are qualified.
● have good communication (verbal and written), organization, attention to detail,
computer, and follow up skills.
● have the resilience to empathize with our clients' current homeless situations yet
have the focus to ensure they take personal responsibility to follow our process to
escape homelessness.
Time Commitment
● As much time as you are willing to devote to this but most likely a few hours per
week.

Mission Statement
Off the Streets - Huntington Beach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that helps eligible homeless individuals and families in Orange County and Riverside County California get into permanent housing. We work with the homeless who have monthly income (job, disability, public assistance, etc.). After we determine a caller is eligible for our services we build a personalized budget with them to determine how much rent they can afford based on their income and all their expenses. Then, if they are able to find an appropriately priced rental that fits this budget, we pay the security deposit directly to the landlord to get the them placed. After they are in their new rental, we deliver the essential household goods and furniture they need to get a new start in life.
