Help with Ocean Friendly Outreach

ORGANIZATION: SURFRIDER FOUNDATION CHARLESTON CHAPTER

Americans use 500 million drinking straws every day, we toss out
enough disposable cups, forks and spoons each year to circle the
equator 300 times, and use 50 billion plastic beverage bottles
each year. By reducing disposable waste, restaurants have the power to
greatly reduce their impact on our Lowcountry environment.

Surfrider Charleston Chapter is in need of VOLUNTEERS who are willing
to help with outreach to local restaurants. If you have a favorite
place for brunch, lunch, dinner, cocktails etc., then we need YOU!

Surfrider will provide you with all the training and information to
reach out to your favorite establishment to help them to become
certified as ocean friendly.

The goals are to have the restaurants understand how the way they
conduct business has an impact on the condition of the beach and
ocean, our economy, and our health. We're helping restaurants to be
more sustainable and, in turn, helping protect our waters, environment
and our economy. There is no fee to become an ORF!
