ESA volunteers guide visitors to designated viewing areas and assist in providing basic education of the Northern Elephant Seal. In addition, volunteers provide visitor information regarding California State Park and NOAA rules and regulations , and report incidents and emergencies.
Max volunteer commitment is seven, 3 hour shifts from January to March (2017).
Volunteers are an integral part of the interpretation of the natural and cultural resources of California State Parks and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Through educating the public, volunteers add a depth of understanding and appreciation for the area, as well as instill a sense of respect and stewardship for the protected areas on land and at sea.
