We are looking for a summer intern to run our PlayStreets Program at Harvest Home Farmers Market. This is a 8 week program to we run at 3 different locations for children ages 4-13. We serve the undeserved populations which allows neighborhood children, camps and day cares to come join and partake in the free activities that we provide. Our mission is to fight childhood obesity and motivate parents to bring their children outside in the summer to exercise rather stay in doors. Volunteers will run different games and activties for the kids that come to our Play Streets. This would be a great learning experience for volunteers that are interested in working with children and low income communities.

Mission Statement
Harvest Home Farmers’ Market, Inc. (HHFM) is an East Harlem-based nonprofit whose mission is to increase access to farm fresh, locally grown produce, particularly for consumers in low-income New York City communities identified as "fresh and healthy food deserts." Founded in 1993, HHFM operates 17 farmers' markets in Harlem, the Bronx, and Brooklyn communities that are under-served by grocery stores and other fresh food outlets. The farmers’ markets provide direct-to-consumer economic opportunities for 35 farmers and food producers who sell their goods at HHFM markets.
Description
HHFM has been a significant player in food access and healthy food issues for over 20 years. We have proven that there is considerable demand for fresh food in low-income areas and that when low-income consumers have access to better choices they will take full advantage of them. Through collaboration with other organizations, systems-based advocacy, and public education, we have helped establish a regional and environmentally responsive food and farm economy that supports good nutrition, prevents hunger, enhances communities, and supports healthy lifestyles.
