The Friendship Public Charter School Mentor Program helps to empower youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. The mentoring program uses adult volunteers to commit to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to a group of young people for a period of at least one year. By becoming part of the social network of adults and community members who care about the youth, the mentor can help youth develop and reach positive academic, career, and personal goals.
The ultimate goal of the program is to empower students in the FPCS organization to feel a sense of confidence and pride that will help them maximize their hidden potential. Through the program our hope is to also bring awareness to life goals, career awareness, building relationships and individual potential, We believe that strong mentor/tutoring relationships support Friendship’s overall mission of providing a world class education that motivates students to achieve high academic standards, enjoy learning and develop ethical literate well-rounded self-sufficient citizens who contribute actively to their communities.

Description
Friendship Public Charter School operates 11 public charter school campuses housed on six sites in the District of Columbia. Friendship campuses serving students from pre-school (three years old) to 12th grade.
Friendship operates around a simple principle: all students must be prepared for higher education and the career of their choice by ensuring mastery of the skills, knowledge, and tools needed to succeed in the 21st century global economy. Friendship's unique educational model improves academic performance, develops the "whole child," offers families wrap-around social services, and directs students to college and a solid, rewarding future. Through innovative, challenging classroom learning experiences and extended learning programs, Friendship instills an appreciation for education and high academic and personal standards, preparing students to become responsible contributors to their communities and world.
