Would you like to do project management work within a fast-paced ever-changing environment? WhoWhatWhy is a nonprofit that doesn't take ads. We don't promote a partisan angle or push predictable views. We do dig deep, think hard, read a lot of history, ask a lot of questions, steer clear of establishment or consensus journalism, and write up what we find with verve. It's interesting, cool, meaningful work. Besides the great experience you will get, you will love us, as well as the cause you will be helping.

At WhoWhatWhy, Project Managers are responsible for scoping, scheduling, coordinating, and ensuring execution of full project lifecycles. There are lots of different kinds of projects to manage (web, HR, editorial), so we are sure we can find a good fit for you.

As a Project Manager, you'll be playing a crucial role in our growth and development through the execution of meaningful project work. You'll work from home, participating in phone and online meetings and using collaborative apps to manage projects.

Please aware that this is an unpaid volunteer job, but project work happens quickly here so you will be able to see immediate results from your work.
Our Project Managers

  • Work with relevant stakeholders to scope assigned projects
  • Develop schedules and project plans to execute work
  • Coordinate the execution of project plans
  • Organize meetings and make sure that all project team members stay on track according to the schedule
  • Generally manage projects based on PMBOK methodologies to ensure successful project outcomes
We are looking for both Project Managers. During the interview with the head of the project management office, you will discuss your experience and potential best fit within the organization. Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills (Verbal and Written English skills)
  • Organized and self-starter
  • At least five years experience with project work
  • High energy, can-do attitude with willingness to do what it takes to get things done
  • Ability to work remotely with minimal hand-holding
  • A commitment to volunteer with WhoWhatWhy for at least 6 months
  • A commitment to volunteer at least 5 hours per week, checking email daily to move projects along as necessary

Mission Statement

WhoWhatWhy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization aiming to discover and share the truth about matters affecting us all. We launched with the idea that the public deserves courageous and thorough investigations into powerful institutions, entities and individuals that shape our world. We pride ourselves on having no sacred cows, and covering stories that no one else will touch. At WhoWhatWhy, we believe that quality information changes minds--and that when you change minds, you change everything.

Description

WhoWhatWhy embodies a form of investigative reporting that is rigorous, relentless, and scientific - we call it forensic journalism.

We take on controversial topics others will not touch and dig deep to uncover and name the institutions and persons shaping our world. Our organization is neither partisan nor ideological and only provides accounts based on extensive research and thorough sourcing.

In addition to producing rigorous investigative reporting, we seek to further the long-term survival and betterment of the news industry as a whole.
