STEM Mentoring Opportunity!

Share your passion for science and/or engineering and serve as a mentor for girls on the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore's First Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Team.

The team is comprised of Coaches, mentors, and Girl Scouts in 7th-12th grades from both Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

Offer your time as often or as little as you like by attending a weekly meeting to help girls prepare for the team's upcoming FTC competitions.

The girls meet on average, two times per week, however, mentors have the flexibility to offer their time from once to multiple times if desired.

Desired Outcome: Mentoring the girls will help empower them to develop their interests, skills, and confidence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

Description

Founded in 1912, Girl Scouts of the USA is the preeminent organization for girls with a current membership of 3.6 million girls and adults. Volunteers use their expertise, skills, interests, and life experience to shape fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls, and inspire them to reach their personal best. Volunteers help council staff facilitate the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls through exciting program opportunities: leadership/self-esteem, financial literacy, travel, health/wellness, science, technology, engineering, and math. Volunteers choose from several flexible Pathways (the ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouting) that fit their lifestyles, including short-term or long-term service working either directly or indirectly with girls, and they can participate regionally, nationally, and internationally.
