Educational First Steps is a non profit organization that shows caregivers how to create high-quality early learning environments, leading to national accreditation, that start at-risk children on a path to lifelong success. Today, the EFS partner network encompasses 90+ independently owned/operated centers in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Johnsson andDenton Counties, 3 registered/licensed home associations, 850 teachers and directors and over 5,400 at-risk children.
Each year we host a free, all day professional development training event available to the teachers/directors at our partner child care center. This is an exciting time in the field of early childhood education as attention is focused as never before on the importance of high-quality early learning opportunities and their connection to K-12 education and lifelong success. NEED: We need photography help on Saturday, January 28 to capture special moments from the event. We will probably need 2 photographers, each for a half day. Description
Educational First Steps helps create nationally accredited early learning centers in the neighborhoods and for the children that need them most. We do this by transforming day care centers in disadvantaged and at risk neighborhoods of North Texas into superior pre-school experiences and their staffs into qualified teachers of age appropriate academic and social-emotional skills. Without this opportunity to develop a solid early foundation, these children most often enter the elementary grades unprepared for learning, with inadequate vocabulary, in need of costly remedial intervention and likely to repeat the cycle of poverty.
EFS' goal is to intervene in these children's lives at a pivotal point when they want nothing more than to learn -- and need nothing less than our best effort to give them the opportunity they deserve.
