Did you know that youth with adult mentors are 46% less likely to begin using drugs? And more than twice as likely to hold leadership positions in their communities? The quantitative and qualitative positive impacts of mentors have been proven time and time again. And you can help!

We are looking for adults to share their life experiences with youth at Lawndale Christian Legal Center. At LCLC, we provide integrated legal and social services to court-inovled youth ages 13-24 from North Lawndale. 92% of those who we serve are African American men.

A mentor is one important part of the support team that we provide for our youth. Come to our orientation to learn how you can make a difference!

Contact Maggie Lamb at mlamb@lclc.net or 773-762-6381 if you have any questions.

Mission Statement

The Lawndale Christian Legal Center's mission is to show and share the love of Jesus by providing legal services grounded in restorative justice for youth in the Lawndale area.

Description

Our vision is to raise up justly-treated youth who are restored from trauma, empowered to lead, embraced by their families and community, and free from the criminal justice system.

We do this by providing legal representation and social service care to court-involved youth, ages 24 and younger, who reside in Chicago, IL’s community of North Lawndale.

Services include legal representation, case management, one-on-one mentoring, jobs training and placement, mental health services, an after school program, and a diversion program.

As a non-profit organization, our volunteers are an integral part of fulfilling our vision. From grabbing a bite to eat with a youth under the one-on-one mentoring program to building relationships in a group setting with the After School Program, volunteers are indispensable.
