ORGANIZATION: Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center

APADRC is seeking an Outreach and Marketing Volunteer to assist the Program Coordinator to
create a comprehensive outreach and awareness campaign for grassroots level peace education.
This position requires at least 10 hours per week, but may be negotiable depending on schedule
and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

Candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
Assist and perform outreach activities (i.e. scheduling appointment, tabling and
presentation)
Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to develop outreach campaigns and develop
relationships with other community organizations
Research nonprofit organizations, churches, government agencies and associations
Make calls and emails to nonprofit organizations, churches, government agencies and
associations
Design, create, and publish beautiful and informational outreach materials such as flyers,
photo galleries, informational sheets, etc.
Write educational articles, blog posts, press releases, newsletter articles.
Research and synthesize news about relevant topics such as community mediation, the
APA community, etc.

Skills:
Interest in community outreach and creating effective educational
campaign
Strong writing and speaking skills preferred
Bilingual preferred (Asian languages/Spanish)
Organized, detail-oriented
Self-motivated and willing to learn
Requirements:
Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Preferably a Junior or Senior in a 4-year accredited college but other years will be
considered based on experience

The Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center provides mediation and conflict resolution services to the diverse communities in the Los Angeles area, with a focus on Asian Pacific communities. We strive to improve human relations and race relations by addressing complex, cross-cultural, community conflicts and their root causes in collaboration with community partners through education, training, and development of new models and techniques.

Description

APADRC is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1989 to provide dispute resolution services to traditionally underserved communities that often face language, culture, and income barriers. The Center recognizes that cultural differences can play a role in contributing to a conflict; consequently, APADRC acts as a bridge to assist parties in reaching mutual understandings and equitable solutions.
