Mission Statement

Uniting our community and leveraging resources to improve lives.

Description

ABOUT UNITED WAY OF ESCAMBIA COUNTY

The United Way of Escambia County's mission is uniting our community and leveraging resources to improve lives. Through the decades, the local campaign has partnered with other charitable entities. In 1943, still known as Community Chest, United Way partnered with the War Fund Drive, creating the first link between the local organization and federal employees.

Since 1988, the United Way has implemented the policy of funding specific agency programs rather than agencies themselves. Currently, United Way funding supports 37 programs at 25 local nonprofit agencies. Donor committees decide on fund distribution and carefully monitor results.

United Way advances the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. Based on a 2006 survey, we determined that the community needs requires a focus on education, financial stability and health - the building blocks for a good quality of life. We recruit the people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to get things done.

We invite you to be part of the change. You can give, you can advocate and you can volunteer. That's what it means to LIVE UNITED.
