Mission Statement
To provide comprehensive, quality home health and hospice services designed to meet the needs of the individual patient and to promote excellence through well-trained medical professionals.
Description
Hospice care focuses on caring, not curing. Hospice care is appropriate when a patient has been diagnosed with a terminal illness. A terminal illness is defined as the point where nothing more can be done to cure someone.
Hospice Care is designed to enhance comfort and promote quality of life for individuals and their families. Hospice believes that death is a natural part of the life cycle and neither hastens nor postpones death. It focuses on pain relief, comfort, quality of life and supportive care for the whole family.
In most cases, care is provided in the patient’s home. Hospice care can also be provided in hospitals, nursing homes, and other long term care facilities. Typically, a family member serves as the primary caregiver, and when appropriate, helps make decisions for the patient. Members of the hospice team make regular visits to assess the patients and provide additional care or other services. Hospice staff is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
