Project CATCH and Circle of Parents are programs of the Salvation Army of Wake County. Circle of Parents is a child abuse prevention support group for parents with a partner program offered for the children. The Children's Circle is currently in need of volunteers on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm at the Salvation Army shelter. Children are separated into groups according to age, and age appropriate social and emotional skill building activities are planned in advance and are facilitated by the staff and volunteer leaders. Volunteers must be 18 years of age and complete a volunteer application in advance. Volunteers should come prepared to engage with children who have experienced the trauma of homelessness and are currently living in a shelter. Most of all, Children's Circle is a FUN time for the volunteers and kids! This is a great opportunity to make a difference in the life of an at-risk child. Group occurs on a weekly basis, and volunteers should be prepared to make a weekly (or at least twice a month) committment of at least six months.

Description

One of the largest charitable and social service organizations in the world, The Salvation Army has been serving the people of Wake County since 1887. We provide food for the hungry, companionship to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, opportunities for underprivileged children, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, and many more services to assist those in need.

Volunteers are needed throughout all of our programs during the year, and especially during the Christmas season, your help allows us to offer a place where weary souls can find rest, empty stomachs can find a warm meal, and families can find a home during difficult times.
