Our gardens grow fresh produce for food pantries, soup kitchens, and other agencies that feed the hungry in our community. The gardens also provide nutrition workshops to kids, using hands-on gardening to get them excited about fruits and veggies. We are in need of volunteers to help clean-up the garden for the end of the season and winterize the garden! No gardening experience is required. All ages are welcome, but volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult

Gleaners Community Food Bank, with broad community support, fights hunger in southeastern Michigan.
Description
For more than 40 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been "feeding hungry people and nourishing our communities." Last year, Gleaners distributed 42 million pounds of emergency food to 499 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston, and Monroe counties.
Of every dollar donated, Gleaners uses 97 cents for food and food programs. One dollar provides three meals for a hungry neighbor.
