Empowering youth to stay in school!

Help Communities In Schools of Central Texas (CIS) empower students to stay in school and achieve in life! CIS is looking for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to serve as Reading Buddies for 6th grade students at Bedichek Middle School.

You would be assisting students duirng their English class on Wednesdays from 12:30-1:15 or 2:00-2:45.

Reading Buddies provide a fun, consistent, and engaging volunteer role model for students. The purpose is to help students build confidence in literacy abilities and gain excitement about reading. While the remainder of the class is particiapting in indivdual reading time you would meet one on one with the same student to provide them support witht their reading.

Description

Communities In Schools of Central Texas has programming in 100 elementary, middle, and high school campuses across Central Texas, providing support services to students and families. Volunteer opportunities range from one-time events to weekly commitments and can include working directly with students or supporting CIS behind the scenes. Campus-based volunteers are matched to meet weekly with a student during the school year, beginning in the fall and continuing until the end of the school year.
