Create & Connect: Caring Across the Generations Wilder Community Services for Aging Traveling Mosaic Project, Fall 2016
Please Join Us!
Wilder Community Services for Aging is one of four metro-wide sites chosen to participate in Greater Twin Cities United Way’s Create & Connect: Art for All community engagement projects. The initiative is motivated by the overwhelming success of a similar community project undertaken last year to mark United Way’s 100 thanniversary.
Guided by multi-media artist Mica Anders of COMPAS (Community Programs in the Arts), Wilder and community participants will create a traveling, three-dimensional mosaic inspired by a theme of "caring across the generations." When completed, the mosaic will travel to a variety of public and corporate venues.
We’d like to invite you to join us at one of the following workshops and help us create the mosaic. Each workshop will take place at Community Services for Aging, 650 Marshall Avenue, St Paul MN 55104. Space is limited; please register for the Wilder-sponsored workshops through Wilder Caregiver Services at 651-280-2273 or the United Way Volunteer United website: Art for All
- Saturday, October 29 th, 10 a.m. - noon
- Thursday, November 3rd, 12:30 - 2:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, November 16th, 12:30 - 2:00 p.m.
To make our traveling mosaic, we are seeking "objects of memory" -- items that remind us of experiences we've had. Please limit the size of each item to less than 6 inches. The options are limitless, but to get ideas flowing, here are some examples:
Recipe cards
Game board and puzzle pieces
Watches and small pocket clocks
Small trinkets or jewelry pieces
Old post cards
Inspiring quotes
Keys
Small locks
Because these objects will become part of the art installation (three-dimensional hanging mosaic), please do not submit anything that needs to be returned. Color photocopies of paper objects or old photographs are fine.
Even if you cannot make any of the workshop dates, we’ll be delighted to accept any "objects of memory" you’re willing to offer. They can be brought to the regular Saturday sessions or dropped off at the front desk: Community Services for Aging, 650 Marshall Avenue, St Paul MN 55104, during business hours.
