Allies Linked for the Prevention of HIV and AIDS (a.l.p.h.a.) is looking for volunteers to work in the Choice Food Pantry. A.l.p.h.a. offers a safe and welcoming place to go for HIV and AIDS education, testing and support.
The Choice Food Pantry program supports individuals living with HIV. The pantry is open Tues 12-3, Thurs 12-3 & 5-8, Fri 12-3, and Sat 12-3. The Tues shift is available immediately, but others will come available over the next 2 months.
The food pantry and a.l.p.h.a. offer a fun and rewarding opportunity to work with educating the community and supporting people living with HIV.
Responsibilites:
- Check in clients when they arrive to use the pantry.
- Keep pantry clean and organized.
Volunteers will need to commit to a minumum of one shift a week for 3 months.

Description
Allies Linked for the Prevention HIV and AIDS (ALPHA) is a community based non-profit organization that has been providing HIV related services to the Treasure Valley and Southern Idaho since 2003. Alpha is the largest community based HIV testing program in the State of Idaho, providing around 1,000 free and confidential rapid HIV tests a year as well as rapid hepatitis C testing and conventional testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. In addition to testing, alpha distributes approximately 50,000 condoms each year, is home to the MPowerment BOI project and the Desert Pause Retreat, and provides supportive services to people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS through the alpha Choice Food Pantry and the Linkage and Retention in Care program. Allies Linked for the Prevention of HIV and AIDS also provides educational opportunities on-site and in the community on topics such as HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, harm reduction, overdose prevention, stigma, and many others as well as advocates for the modernization of HIV laws and an end to discrimination of people living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ people, people who use drugs, and anyone at risk of acquiring HIV.
