Empowering youth!

Communities In Schools (CIS) provides support by bringing resources and relationships to school campuses - surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. One way that CIS supports students is through after school programming on public housing sites. Through a partnership with The Housing Authority of the City of Austin, SmartKids Coordinators provide case management and support services to the CIS students they typically serve during the school day. You can be a part of the CIS community of support by donating a few hours of your time to volunteer at a fall party for SmartKids students this October.

Duties might include setting up game stations and activities, helping with homework, leading an activity or game station, assisting students, cleaning up after the party, etc., all under the direction of a CIS staff member.
