Tuck-in call volunteers make calls to our community based hospice patients (patients who reside at home) in an effort to identify needs that they might have for the weekend related to supplies, medications and support. These calls are made on Thursdays and/or Fridays each week. A script is provided to volunteers.

Training is required.

What is hospice?

Many think of hospice as a place. In fact, hospice is a specialized kind of care designed to help patients with terminal illnesses where a cure is no longer an option. Hospice can take place in a building, but most commonly it takes place where everyone wants to be - in the comfort of home.

Hospice is a unique benefit that brings care to more than just the patient. Hospice includes care, help, guidance and support for families and caregivers as well. This one simple fact is one of the most important and meaningful concepts behind hospice care: Hospice brings caring, compassion, comfort and support to families as well as patients.
