About

POSITION PURPOSE: This is a volunteer, non-paying (pro bono) position that is responsible for greeting and welcoming customers to Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Greeters provide a welcoming first impression for guests. This role requires a friendly attitude, people skills, keeping current with sales and promotions, and daily familiarity with ReStore stock.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Hospitality

Greet arriving customers at the door and help guests feel welcome. Assist customers with shopping carts. Direct customers to specific areas of the store. If weather requires that door be closed, open door for approaching customers.

Sales & Donations

Offer coupons, sales flyers, and other promotional material. Explain sales conditions. Note customer returns; explain return policy. Alert supervisor regarding donations.

Safety and Security

Notify supervisor of any problems s/he notices that may present a safety hazard. Identify customers for security purposes. Act as monitor against theft.

Organization & Maintenance

Keep entrance to ReStore free of litter, clutter, etc. Keep door open or closed, depending on the weather. Keep popcorn area swept. Keep shopping carts organized outside. Help prevent shopping cart logjam at the check-out counter.

Other

Explain how to purchase popcorn when asked. Respond to individual customer needs when asked. Perform other related duties as assigned by manager.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Time commitment: At least one (1) three (3) hour shift every other week.

Perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Understanding and appreciation of the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Ability to read, write, and speak English. Ability to prioritize issues. Strong people skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

Adequate eyesight and mobility. Ability to lift at least 20 pounds, stand at doorway, and walk to different areas of the store to direct customers to products.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in customer service or hospitality a plus.
