ORGANIZATION: Lewis and Joan Platt East Palo Alto Family YMCA

The Volunteer Assistant primarily supports our branch volunteers by performing a variety of tasks and duties including, but not limited to volunteer: outreach, recruiting, screening, training, monitoring, retention, evaluation and recognition and the assisting of corporate group volunteer projects. This volunteer position will be directly supervised by the Director of Administration. Other duties may include assisting with general filing, data entry, special projects, special events and the annual campaign.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow volunteer management plan
  • Assist with the restructuring and maintenance of our volunteer system
  • Attend recruiting events in and around our community
  • Schedule volunteers phone screenings, interviews and fingerprinting appointments
  • Maintain all volunteer records including their initial packet and time-keeping
  • Monitor volunteer’s work for accuracy and determine areas of improvement and successes
  • Meet regularly with volunteer’s supervisors to collect feedback
  • Provide frequent recognition
  • Perform corporate outreach and presentations
  • Calendar management

The Lewis and Joan Platt East Palo Alto Family YMCA opened in 2007, after what began as a dream nearly two decades before. This dream became a reality for thousands of children, youth and adults. Today the Y plays a much larger in the community-its a place where all people are welcomed together. We empower future generations through programs and services that build healthy mind, body and spirit.


We welcome volunteers! and give volunteer hours and community service hours.
Programs: youth sports, homework club (after school tutoring) youth and government, Nana y Yo, specialty programs.
