The purpose of the volunteer grant writer is to develop and write grant proposals to grant-making organizations and persuasively communicate the Texas Humane Heroes mission and programs to potential funders.

-College degree, preferred

-Knowledge of grant application process & writing of proposals

-Knowledge of various grant programs available to nonprofit organizations

-Excellent research, writing, and communication skills

-Self-motivated, reliable, organized and thorough

-Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines for grant opportunities

-Ability to take initiative and work independently

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

-Work closely with the Development Coordinator to research grant programs and plans and draft funding proposals & applications

-Work closely with the Development Director to develop and implement an annual development plan/strategy to increase annual grant income

-Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentations -Edit draft applications for accuracy, completeness, and clarity

-Provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures

Time Commitment: 2 days/week (flexible hours)
