The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Volunteers are needed to help with the ongoing maintenance of our two apartment complexes in North Central Austin. As the units are turned over, we have a need for volunteers to clean, paint and perform minor repairs for the new tenants.
If you're a skilled carpenter, handyman, electrician, etc, we'd also love to hear from you to help us with minor repairs as needed.
We are also forming landscaping and gardening groups. Volunteers would be able to form their own groups or we could pair you with other volunteers to help with things such as weeding the flower beds, raking, mowing, weed eating, etc. We would like to form a group for each week of the month (i.e. Team 1 comes the 1st week of the month, Team 2 comes the second week of the month, etc.). This opportunity is flexible in day and time. We need help at both housing complexes, our hospice home and our thrift store.
