We're looking for people who have are committed to helping youth thrive.
Our Youth of Promise program needs tutors to work one-on-one in our tutoring program.
Youth of Promise (YOP) is a youth development program serving youth from the communities of Northwest Pasadena and West Altadena who have been impacted by poverty, community violence, gangs, trauma and incarceration. Our goal is to see all of our youth successfully complete high school prepared for college, vocational training, or employment. We provide them with support, resources and positive alternatives to joining gangs and becoming entangled in the justice system. Our youth live in high-need, high-risk circumstances, but have tremendous potential when they receive support from adults who believe in them. We call them Youth of Promise because when we care for and invest in them, they are full of promise.
If you'd like to be a part of our team and and help youth thrive, join us as a volunteer tutor.

Mission Statement
To break the cycle of poverty and violence through community planning, innovation and action.
Description
Flintridge has been working in the Northwest Pasadena/ West Altadena community for over 30 years through a continuum of prevention and intervention programs with the goal of improving educational achievement, breaking down barriers to employment, and steering community members away from the cycle of crime, violence and incarceration.
Two of our main services are our mentoring and after school programs, which altogether serve more than 150 youth, who are at risk of dropping out of school or joining gangs, per year and our Apprenticeship Preparation Program, which prepares and supports previously incarcerated and gang impacted individuals for careers in the construction trades. Moreover, as the City of Pasadena's official Institutional Home for Community and Gang Violence Prevention/Intervention Programs and Positive Youth Development, Flintridge collaborates with local community partners to continuously develop and strengthen programs in response to the specific needs of our community.
