ORGANIZATION: PeaceGeeks

The Organization:

PeaceGeeks is a global non-profit, volunteer organization that uses technology to build the technological, communications and management capacities of grassroots organizations who work to promote peace, accountability and human rights. We develop partnerships with these organizations to provide meaningful support designed to increase their skills, effectiveness and impact. We see a world where everyone can leverage technology to make peace and human rights a lived reality.

Position Overview:

The Developer Team Lead will be leading and monitoring various projects with different departments with respect to how development increases operational efficiency. You will ensure successful delivery of projects that you will be required to plan and gather the resources for. The ideal candidate should have a technical background and best suited for someone that is comfortable and proficient in using to building websites. The Developer Team Lead will report to the Executive Director and Projects Director.

Responsibilities:

· Managing volunteer developer resources

· Supporting technical projects by liaising with different departments

· Train, coach and motivate junior developers and other involving parties

· Recruiting new developer resources and managing developer priorities

· Assigning tickets when needed

· Some application development work in ad-hoc projects

· Provide strategic direction and management to PeaceGeeks’ hackathons

Qualifications:

  • Working towards or completed post-secondary degree in computer science, management information systems or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a proven developer
  • 1+ years of experience in team management
  • Matured experience in using Drupal, JavaScript, PHP and Angular
  • Established communication and time-management skills
  • Keep up with the trends in the technological world
  • Knowledge of current issues and events locally and globally is an asset

Time Commitment:

5 hours per week; may increase to 8 hours contingent on the project stage
