Community Garden Clean Up

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: JAMIESON COMMUNITY CENTER INC

Jamieson Community Center is closing their Community Garden for the Winter season! That means we need to pick the last of the vegetables available, pull the dying plants from the ground, and place them in our compost pile. We also need to pull weeds and lay down mulch in the walk ways of the garden.

We will provide suncreen, bugspray, water, and music for all volunteers.

Mission Statement

"The mission of the Jamieson Community Center is to coordinate programs addressing the needs of all ages, provide services which extend widely into the community and surrounding area and work in cooperation with social service agencies in the region."

Description

Jamieson Community Center is a non-profit that runs a Thrift Store, Food Pantry, and Senior Nutrition program all year round. While we have occasional events and activities hosted in our Community Room, we also provide seasonal programs such as our Christmas Baskets (holiday food), a Christmas Store (new clothing and toys requested by children in the area), a S.T.A.R.S. program (providing school supplies), a Community Garden after-school education program for kids 4th-6th grade, and a Summer Meals program (free everyday lunch for children). We currently have a new program, Games Galore, for community members of any age to come and play board games in our Community Room every Tuesday and Thursday 2-4pm. We also host a Work Force office, a team that helps young adults find an education and employment.
