The National University of Natural Medicine Community Clinics provide affordable natural health care to medically underserved people of the greater Portland Metropolitan area. We give high quality clinical training for our students while we educate, treat, and empower patients to lead healthier lives. As a Patient Advocate and Administrative Assistant, you will gain first-hand experience working in community health and an opportunity to provide critical assistance to our patients seeking local resource referrals.

  • Serve as a patient advocate
  • Help sign patients up for our Compassionate Care Program (Financial Assistance)
  • Refer patients to community resources as needed
  • Be open to learning about how to work with marginalized communities
  • Use the OCHIN Epic system to check patients in, schedule appointments, and check patients out
  • Assist with operations inventory for medical and office supplies
  • Collect medicinary requests
  • Learn basics on Insurance policies and procedures, refer patients to our Enrollment Assistor if they qualify for Medicaid
  • Attend trainings
  • Commit to a regular schedule
  • Be knowledgeable of and abide by the NUNM Confidentiality Policies and Procedures
  • Have reliable transportation to and from Community Clinic sites
  • Check-ins with volunteer coordinator

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • A minimum of four hours weekly for six (6) month
  • Access to consistent and reliable transportation.
