Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) needs volunteers in a variety of capacities to offer warmth and companionship to isolated, lonely elders. We are committed to relieving isolation and loneliness among Minneapolis and St. Paul elders who have little, if any, family or friendship support in their world. We offer a host of opportunities for volunteers to bring their passion and caring into play in heartfelt ways that make a real difference in the lives of older people and in the volunteers' own.

In-Person Check-In Volunteers pay brief check-in visits to a variety of isolated elders in their own homes. These volunteers ensure elders feel socially connected, cared about and assured of their place in the LBFE community. Time commitment: Varies depending on number of elders assigned. Expect 30 - 45 minutes per check-in.

The In-Person Check-in Volunteer Program forms part of LBFE’s Companionship Care Services which also include our Visiting Volunteer Advocate and Phone Companion programs, which together ensure a spectrum of companionship that offers deeper engagement and more social connection opportunities for our elders.
